The land of clouds and mud

Here I am back home in Ann Arbor. It's been cold and icy. I saw four different cars blown off the road on the way up to Flint yesterday. Today it's better, but still cold. Last night I watched the eclipse of the moon for about 45 minutes, when I was in the hot tub. Nothing exciting going on, just house maintenance and regular job stuff.

Wine Geezers and traffic

Another nice day in California. It was a little cooler, only in the 50's and 60's, but no freezing rain like in Ann Arbor. We ended in up in Sonoma where we visited the St. Francis winery as the guest of one of the owners, who Pat had met on the ferry from SFO to Larkspur yesterday. We had their lunch and tasting which was very nice. The wine was good, Cal wines seem to be getting drier. We joined their club, and will get six shipments at their reduced prices, with wines you can't buy in Michigan. We then went to Oakmont community, which is an area for people over 50, good possibility for sub lease for one to two months. We will check it out further, but it is in Santa Rosa, which is a great locatdion. Then to Calistoga where I bought a ring, and then in traffic for a long time coming out of Napa, should have gone back through Sonoma. All in all a very wonderful weekend, now back today to Ann Arbor and cold and snow. Back here in Feb 28

Chinatown on Chinese NY

Great day yesterday. Took the ferry from Larkspur to the Ferry building, then walked to Chinatown, which was very cool because it is Chinese New Years, the year of the Rat. Had lunch in a Chinatown restaurant, Dim Sum. Walked all over the area, including some stairways (see Pat's blog) then ferried back, and drove to Stinson Beach, which was spectacular but very out of the way. Drove back through Mill Valley, then had a Ravioli dinner at the house. Jet lag hit me, and I was out of it from 8pm on. Finished book on Django.

SFO here I am

Well it's not actually SFO, it is Novato. About 18 miles on north of the Golden Gate Bridge. Weather is very nice, in the high 60's. It's 11 degrees right now in Ann Arbor.
This area is kind of in the middle of everything, but not really anywhere. There are plenty of nature walks etc. and it is not far from anything, Kathleen made it here in 30 minutes from Sebastopol. We went to the Kitchen restaurant last night and split the Pris Fix menu. We had Soup, salad, shrimp, Butterfish and chocolate cake. All excellent. I'm wondering about Stimson beach as a rental option for the winter. Today we plan on taking the ferry to SFO from Larkspur. Should be fun.

Sick of Snow

OK enough already. This latest snow storm has put me over the edge. Yesterday we had about 8 inches, and today was a very bad drive up to Flint. There were several cars in the ditches, one truck overturned, one car on it's roof. I'm ready to go to SFO to join Pat for a long weekend. President's weekend is coming up and it should be fun.

First Post

Went up north the first weekend Pat was in SFO. I drove home monday morning, and experienced a Northern Michigan Blizzard on Sunday. 50 mph winds. Below zero temps. White out conditions.
